Please check with your health fund.

All fees for psychology sessions are set well below the Australian Psychological Society's (APS) recommended fee schedule of $300.00 per session.

The cost of providing Medicare services is further subsidised by Family Services Australia to make service more accessible to our clients.

Third party funding including NDIS

You can use NDIS funding if the funds are Self-Managed or Plan Managed by a Local Area Coordinator (LAC). These fees are covered by your NDIS plan. All rates for NDIS funded services are based on current NDIS Price Guides. NDIS support typically requires a greater amount of preparation, case conferencing, and case management for our clinical staff making it necessary for us to charge in line with NDIS recommendations.

Per 60-minute session:

Third-party session fee = $214.41

Provisional Psychologist

Our psychologists with provisional registration are fully supported by our clinical team. Psychologists with provisional registration do not have a Medicare provider number, therefore you are not eligible for a rebate under Medicare.

If you are allocated to a provisional psychologist and are not funded under a third-party, sessions will be charged at $85.00 per 50-minute consultation.

Reports and Letters

Requests for written documentation may attract a charge dependent on the time taken to complete these requests. Brief letters or written documentation that takes less than 15 minutes to complete (e.g., a few sentences supporting a referral to a paediatrician) will not attract a charge. If you are claiming a Medicare rebate for services your clinician will be corresponding with the referring GP regularly, and this summary can be provided to you at request. Letters to GP also do not attract any charge.

Documentation or reports that take longer than 15 minutes to complete will be charged a fee. Such documentation usually requires our clinician to summarise assessment findings, provide clinical insights or overviews, and list tailored recommendations. As such, this can take time away from other billable sessions, and so we need to charge for this time.

Reports or documentation taking longer than 15 minutes (usually about an hour) will be charged at $170.00.

Missed appointments, rescheduling & cancellations

Therapy

FSA Health & Wellbeing’s services, including FSA Psychology, are primarily Fee based due to a lack of external funding to provide ongoing sustainability. As such, we are required to enforce cancellation fees where appointments are not attended or where short notice is provided.

Appointment reminders are routinely sent via SMS and Email in the lead up to an appointment booking and allow for 48 hours’ notice of cancellation. Cancellation requests can be sent via email to triage@familyservices.org.au; by calling our reception on 1800 372 000 (option 2) and leaving a voicemail if unable to get through; or by responding to the SMS reminder message.

FSA Health & Wellbeing’s cancellation policy is as follows:

  • Where cancellation is received with less than 48 hours’ notice, 50% of your session fee will be charged.

  • Where cancellation is received with less than 24 hours’ notice or you do not show to your appointment, the full amount (i.e., 100%) of your session fee will be charged.

Your securely stored debit or credit card will be charged the relevant fee. You will be emailed a receipt following being charged. If you would prefer to pay over the phone or in person, you are required to contact our office prior to the end of the scheduled appointment to arrange your preferred payment. Future appointments will not be booked until the fee has been paid.
